"in all but function" is an iterative sequence of work that currently consists of a ladder spoon and two prints. However, it extends to prior work, and I imagine its influence will impact my future work. I made this spoon directly after making my first ladder-back chair. I was thinking about how the chair was named for being reminiscent of a ladder and how objects are mirrored through design yet become their own through iteration. After completing the spoon, I created cyanotypes using it, distilling the spoon to the imagery of the ladder, losing the spoon and the chair that influenced it to the unknowing eye.
